West Virginia's First Lighthouse School Hurricane Town Elementary School —a member of the Putnam County school district in the great state of West Virginia, becomes the first Lighthouse School in the state. At HTE, the leadership culture is celebrated by a united team of outstanding educators and staff who are deeply committed to the development and growth of the “whole child.” Hurricane Town Elementary's WIGS Wildy Important Goals for 2019-2020 1. RLA- By May of 2020, all students in grades 2-5 will demonstrate growth of at least 100 scaled score points, with 80% of students achieving mastery as determined by STAR BOY to EOY and or teacher made assessments. Kindergarten and first grade students will achieve mastery of grade level phonics and word analysis skill in decoding word as determined by teacher made assessments. We will achieve this by utilizing: Cadre Teachers 3X per week to teach focus skills Critical Skills Tutoring Differentiated Groups in math and reading Goal Tracking/Leadership Notebooks Use of formative and summative assessments 2. Math- By May of 2020, all students in grades 2-5 will demonstrate growth of at least 100 scaled score points, with 80% of students achieving mastery as determined by STAR BOY to EOY and or teacher made assessments. Kindergarten students will be 80% proficient in standard M.K.13 First Grade students will be 80% proficient in standard M.1.6. We will achieve this by utilizing: Cadre Teachers 3X per week to teach focus skills Technology programs-IXL, Imagine, Xtra math, etc. Critical Skills Tutoring Differentiated Groups in math and reading Goal Tracking/Leadership Notebooks Use of formative and summative assessments 3. Parent Engagement By May of 2020, parents will be provided with 20% more opportunities for engagement than in previous years as determined by principal and teacher records. We will achieve this by offering: HTE will host at least two family night events during the 2019-20 school year.
